MAT RATS CLASS 4A PREVIEW 2012-2013
FAVORITES: LAKE CRYSTAL-WELLCOME-MEMORIAL AREA KNIGHTS and the ST. JAMES SAINTS
The Knights of Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial should be a favorite to repeat in the section. They have back from their 20-5 campaign ten section place winners including four state qualifiers of which two were state medal winners. They will also have back three others with varsity experience from their Class A Fifth place team. Despite that they graduated five including four section place winners including one state place winner. Look for the Knights to improve thru out the season and make another strong challenge for conference and section honors. They should be among the top teams in the state in Class A this season. Taner Trembley, Louie Sanders, Levi Marsch and DeVantay Cory to be their key leaders thru out the season.
The Saints of St. James return from their 19-2 and section runner up eight section place winners including four state qualifiers and four others with a great deal of varsity experience. Look for the Saints to defend their conference honors and to make a very strong challenge for section honors. They did graduate six seniors including five section place winners of which two were state qualifiers. The Saints have been close to earning a state tourney trip the last couple of seasons; this could be their season. Cody Hanson, Ricky Soto, Isaac Carreon, Devin Wolle and Victor Torres to be their key leaders thru out the season.
DARKHORSES: SIBLEY EAST WOLVERINES and the WINDOM AREA COBRAS
The Wolverines of Sibley East have back from their 15-17 dual meet campaign nine section place winners; five were state qualifiers and four others with a great deal of varsity experience. Despite the fact they graduated six seniors of which two were section place winners. Look for them a to make a strong challenge for conference and section honors. This is a very talented team as they are led by five state tourney wrestlers including state champion Nathan Rose, Aaron Bates, Jason Meyer, Miah Dufrane, Austin Brockhoff and a transfer from St. Peter Hunter Retzloff. They should be the key leaders for this team thru out the season.
The Cobras of Windom Area have back from their 19-7 campaign and Section 3AA section honors three section place winners and four others with a great deal of varsity experience. Despite the fact that they did graduate four seniors including three section place winners; two of which were state qualifiers. This young team should improve a great deal of the course of the season. Look for them to challenge for a top four spot in this section dual meet campaign. Wyatt Stevens, Jared Willaby and Vincent Johnson should be their key leaders thru out the season.
Look for the Raiders of Norwood Young America and the Jay Hawks of Madelia/Truman to push for a top four spot in the section.
