MAT RATS CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOP CLASS A TEAMS



ATWATER COSMOS GROVE CITY FALCONS



The Falcons had a strong performance to start their 2012-2013 season, they topped the field of teams at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational with 240 points and thirteen wrestlers placing in the top five. Derek Dengerud, Lee Whitcomb, Lucas Damm, Tyler Burhuis, Maverick Whitcomb and Larry Bomstad all won championships and earning second place was Robert Rassmussen, Jacob Peterson and Jordan Fester. Logan Peterson earned third place, Ryan Molinaro and Ethan Houseman both earned fourth place and Jordan Nelson took fifth place. The Falcons topped rival No. 7AA ranked New London-Spicer 35-28. They topped four West Central Conference foes: Benson 58-15, Quad County 65-3, Montevideo 71-6 and Minnewaska 69-6.



KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS

The Fighting Saints started their season with a very strong performance as they topped the field of ten teams at the Melrose/Sauk Centre "Early Bird" Invitational with 265.5 points. They had thirteen wrestlers place in the top four; including six championships by Derek Kreiger, Jorge Munoz-Peterson, Nick Meyer, Zach Carlson, Jordan Rothers and Cody Peters. Named the Outstanding Wrestler as voted by the coaches was Cody Peters as he defeated the defending state champion in his championship match. Kyle Baker, Chase Norton and Casey Thorson all earned second place and Austin Rothers and Jonathon Tostenson both earned third place. Taking fourth place was Brandon Dahl for the Fighting Saints. They followed that up with another outstanding showing with 216 points to win the Willmar "Cardinal Classic" Invitational. They topped AAA host Lean and Mean Willmar as they placed eleven wrestlers in the top five. Seven championships were won by Jorge Munos-Peterson, Austin Rothers, Chase Norton, Nick Meyer, Zach Carlson and Jordan Rothers. Travis Lamecher earned fourth place and taking fifth place was Kyle Baker, Jon Tostenson and Caleb Collins. They earned 4th place at the Redwood Valley "River Riot" Invitational. They scored 134.5 points in this twenty eight team event and they had five wrestlers place in the top five. Zach Carlson won their lone championship, Jordan Rothers earned second place, Cody Peters and Nick Meyer both earned third place and Chase Norton took sixth place. The Fighting Saints topped Class A Lean and Mean Border West 46-25 and AA Lean and Mean Dawson-Boyd/LQPV United 49-18.



PIERZ PIONEERS

The Pioneers started their 2012-2013 season with two good performances although they dropped a pair of duals to No. 3AA ranked Foley 43-25 and to No. 10 AA Becker 28-25. They followed that solid performance with a win over No. 12A ranked and Central Minnesota Conference rival Kimball 34-28 and Section 7A rival Royalton 49-15. The Pioneers had a bit of a struggle as they competed in the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational; they scored 83.5 points with five place winners. Brad Meyer won a big championship as he had an outstanding tourney performance. Travis Johnson and Brett Kapsner both earned fourth place and Chris Ortman and Ryley Smude both took sixth place. The Pioneers topped No. 6AA ranked Milaca 38-32 and AAA St. Cloud Apollo 45-27.

HOLDINGFORD HUSKERS

The Huskers had a solid showing as they opened their 2012-2013 season at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational with 118 points to earned third place. They had eight wrestlers place in the top four including a pair of championships by Kyle Gerads and Trevor Scott. Jake Knettel and Zach Scott both earned second place and Andrew Zachman and Mitch Merten both earned third place. Kyle Kolstad and Nathan Brinker both took fourth place. They topped Section 7A rival Aitkin 39-30 in their first dual meet of the season. The Huskers had a great tourney showing as they topped three foes at the Milaca "Wolves" Invitational. They topped No. 6AA host Milaca 48-18, AAA Elk River 42-21 and Aitkin 42-21. Kyle Gerards, Kyle Kolstad and Mitch Messman were all 3-0 to lead the way. They topped Central Minnesota Conference rival Rockford 62-18, Osakis 57-19, AA Melrose/Sauk Centre 52-21 and Prairie Valley 75-6.



KIMBALL CUBS

The Cubs started their season with a big tourney win as they topped the field of teams at the Rush City "Tigers" Invitational with 215 points and twelve placing in the top five. Six championships were won by Blane Tschida, Tim Konz, Austin Schlueter, Travis Wills, Marcus Hamer and Quinton Berres. Skyler Schiefelbeing and Payton Schiefelbein both earned third place, Matt Donnay and Brady Mehr both earned fourth place and Troy Filzen and Ted Zipoy both took fifth place. They dropped a dual to Central Minnesota Conference and No. 7A ranked rival Pierz 34-28. The Cubs turned in a strong performance as they earned second place at the Park High "Wolf Pack" Duals with wins over AAA Stillwater 46-18, Section 1A foe Goodhue 39-31 and AA for Cannon Falls 42-37 before falling to Class A Lean and Mean Chatfield 42-37. Blane Tschida, Travis Wills, Marcus Hamer, Austyn Schlueter and Quinten Berres were all 4-0 and Tim Konz was 3-1. The Cubs dropped three duals at the Frazee "Les Kertscher" Duals. They dropped their quarterfinal dual to No. 6A Frazee 47-20, No. 1B Lisbon, ND 43-30 and to No. 12AA Perham 40-36. Blane Tschida, Quinten Berres, Marcus Hammer, Travis Wills and Austyn Schlueter were all 3-0.



NEW YORK MILLS EAGLES

The Eagles started their 2012-2013 season with three huge wins as they hosted a quadrangular. They topped three AA foes Fosston/Bagley 39-24, Staples-Motley 48-6 and United Clay Becker 64-15. They had a great tourney performance as they earned second place in the twelve team field of teams of the West Central "Grant County" Invitational with 165 points. One championship was won by Noah Pesola and earning second place was Shane Novak and Jeremiah Harper. Tyler Patron, Tyler Ehnert and Max Carlson all earned third place and Kacee Skoog, Gunner Flynn and Andrew Perala all took fourth place. They topped AA rival Park Rapids 54-15. The Eagles had a good tournament performance with 113 points to earn ninth place at the Cass Lake "Big Bear" Invitational. They had six wrestlers place in the top seven in this thirty-five team event. Shane Novak won their lone championship, Noah Pesola earned fourth place, Tyler Parton and Max Carlson both earned fifth place, Jeremiah Harper earned sixth place and Kacee Skoog took seventh place.



BELGRADE-BROOTEN ELROSA JAGUARS

The Jaguars started their 2012 portion of their season with a very impressive performance as they earned second place with 147.5 points at their invitational. Four championships were won by Adam Jaeger, Josey Tenson, Patrick Rooney and Tyler Tensen. Special congratulations to Tyler Tensen as he won his 75 career match. Ross Rath, Matt Schmitz and Lee Borgerding all earned second place and Alex Schramel took fourth place. They earned fifth place at the Maple Grove Invitational with 122 points and six place winners. Tyler Tensen and Patrick Rooney won championships and Matt Schmitz earned second place. Josey Tensen and Austin Jeager both earned third place and Alex Schramel took fifth place. They topped Class A rivals BOLD 43-27, Royalton 40-33 and their big rival Paynesville 49-15.



UNITED NORTH CENTRAL WARRIORS

The Warriors started their 2012-2013 season with a very impressive performance as they earned third place with 153 points at the Wadena-Deer Creek "Wolverine" Invitational. They were just back of a pair of AA Lean and Mean teams by a few points. Jake Malone, Taylor Carlson and Tristan Palmer won championships and Max Pajari and Mike Johnson both earned third place and Dylan Huttunen and Justin Bacon both earned fourth place. Wyatt Puttonen, Sam Tellers and Toby Hintzman all took fifth place. They crushed AA rival Park Rapids 62-10 and in a very impressive showing a huge win over one of the better 8A teams Blackduck/Cass Lake/Bena 41-15. The Warriors had another great showing as they won the Crookston "Rod Olson" Invitational with 185.5 points twelve placing in the top five. Two championships were won by Max Pajari and Dylan Huttunen, Tristan Palmer and Tanner Bacon both earned second place. Micah Aho, Sam Teller, Wyatt Puttonen and Taylor Carlson all earned third place, Logan Waln and Mike Johnson both earned fourth place and taking fifth place was Austin Bacon. They defeated Park Region Conference rival Browerville 69-3. The Warriors earned sixth place at the Cass Lake "Big Bear" Invitational with 126 points. Taylor Carlson won their lone championship, Jake Malone and Max Pajari both earned second place and Dylan Huttuen earned sixth place.





BORDER WEST BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers have struggled a bit as they had a late start due to their State Championship Football campaign. They had three place winners at the Wahpeton "Dan Unruh" Invitational, Cameron Sykora won their lone championship , Tracer Lee earned third place and Dyan Pullis earned fourth place. They scored 119.5 points to take sixth place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational with five place winners. Cameron Sykora and Austin Maanum both won championships, Dylan Pullis earned second place and Nick Stafford and Carter Behrens both earned third place. They did top two Section 6A rivals West Central Area 45-28 and Prairie Valley 72-7. They topped AA foe Dawson-Boyd/LQPV 42-25 and to the No. 3A ranked Kerkhoven Murdock Sunburg 46-25



PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs started their season with a pair of West Central Conference wins over Montevideo 36-32 and Dawson/Boyd-LQPV 45-27. They dropped a dual to West Central Conference rival and AA Lean and Mean Morris Area 38-33.





OSAKIS SILVERSTREAKS

The Silverstreaks started their 2012-20-13 wrestling campaign with a outstanding showing as they earned second place in a twelve team field of teams at the Melrose/Sauk Centre "Early Bird" Tournament with 182 points. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five with Brendon Coyer and Trenton Coyer both winning championships, Garrett Scherr and Ryan Engfer earned second place. Mitch Sunder and Peter Hagen both earned third place and Brandon Spanswick earned fourth place. Austin Rollog and Tyler Spanswick both took fifth place. They topped a pair of Park Region Conference rivals Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 39-30 and Ottertail Central 49-21. They did drop a dual to AA Lean and Mean Pequot Lake/Pine River/Backus 40-24. The Silverstreaks had six place winners at the Shakopee "Sabres" Invitational, Trenton Coyer won their lone championship and Brendon Coyer earned second place. Garrett Scherr, Brandon Spanwsick and Ryan Engler all earned fourth place and Colton Walvogel took fifth place. They topped AA rival Melrose/Sauk Centre 42-24 and Park Region Conference foe Prairie Valley 58-6.



BERTHA-HEWITT/VERNDALE RAIDERS



The Raiders started their season with a good showing as they earned fifth place with 135 points at the Wadena-Deer Creek "Wolverine" Invitational. They had eight wrestlers place in the top five including one championship by Dalton Baker and four seconds earned by Dillon Card, Justin Gordon, Dakota Finck and Anthony Kern. Nick Bennett earned fourth place and Marshall Willis and Hayden Truax both took fifth place. They dropped a pair of duals to Park Region Conference rival Osakis 39-30 and AA Lean and Mean Pequot Lake/Pine River/Backus 50-16. The Raiders had a great tourney performance with 135.5 points to earn second place at the Barnesville "Trojans" Invitational. They had eight wrestlers place in the top five including one championship by Dillon Card and a pair of seconds were earned by Marshall Willis and Dalton Baker. Nick Bennett earned third Place, Dakota Finck, Ethan Kimber and Andrew Cihlar all earned fourth place and Hunter Truax took fifth place.



MAT RATS CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOP CLASS AA TEAMS

FOLEY FALCONS

The Falcons started their 2012-2013 wrestling campaign with a pair of dual meet wins over Class A rivals No. 7A ranked Pierz 43-25 and Royalton 48-9. They had a good tourney performance with 171 points to earn second place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational. They had thirteen wrestlers place including a pair of championships by Tristan Manderfeld and Tyler Funk. Mitch Struffert, Mitch Keeler and Carter Nielsen all earned third place and Cameron Svihla and Luke Kelvington both earned fourth place. Brandon Halverson earned fifth place, John Gehling and Keith Thell both earned sixth place and taking seventh place was Alex Lange, John Garceau and Tyler Midas. They topped Granite Ridge Conference foe Little Falls 37--31. The Falcons earned second place at the Frazee "Les Kertscher" Duals with a win over AAA Brainerd in the quarterfinals 37-30, in the semifinals they topped No. 8A Minneota 40-24 before dropping the championship to No. 6A Frazee 44-24. Tyler Funk, Tristan Manderfeld, Tyler Beehler and Brandon Halverson were all 3-0 at the duals.



NEW LONDON SPICER WILDCATS

The Wildcat started their 2012-2013 wrestling season with a solid performance with 201 points to claim the championship at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational. They had twelve place winners including four championships by Jacob Stageberg, Logan Brink, Jarrett Hatlestad and Luke Gould. Earning second place were Thomas Stageberg, Oden Rogers and Brandon Knisley. Treyton Austvold, Logan Eckhoff, Corbin Schwartz and Grant Vagle all earned third place and Rick Berry took fourth place. The Wildcats dropped a dual to No. 2A rival Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 35-28 and to Wright County Conference foe Waconia 36-33. They did top Wright County Conference foe Mound-Westonka 55-15.

BECKER BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs topped a pair of Class A rivals to open their portion of the 2012 wrestling season over No. 7A ranked Pierz 28-25 and Royalton 48-27. The Bulldogs topped Granite Ridge Conference foe 43-21. They had a solid tourney performance with 103 points to take ninth place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with nine place winners. Colton Vekved earned second place and Cody Ferris earned fourth place. Luke Schmaltz and Bobby Lee both earned fifth place and Lee Schmalz, Neil Schmaltz, Eric Dudek and Mason Olson all took sixth place and Kreston Cammon took seventh place. They topped Granite Ridge Conference and No. 6AA ranked foe Milaca 38-15. They topped Dassel-Cokato 44-24 and dropped a pair of duals to Section 6AA rival New London-Spicer 37-31 and to AAA ranked Shakopee 37-28. Colten Vekved and Brady Kurtz were both 3-0 at the Dassel-Cokato "Charger" Duals.



MILACA WOLVES

The Wolves topped four foes at the Waconia "Wildcats" Duals over No. 11AAA ranked Shakopee 39-27, AA Waconia 37-30, AA Marshall 42-30 and Class A LeSueur-Henderson 67-8. Mike Hoffman, Josh Otten, Hunter Noor, Joey Curtis were all 4-0 and Jonah Gahn and Austin Weidner were 3-0 and Ray Hoffman and Brandon Merten were both 3-1. The Wolves topped Section 7AA and Granite Ridge Conference rival Mora 53-12. They topped two foes at their dual meet invitational over AAA Elk River 44-30 and Class A Aitkin 64-10. They dropped a dual to Class A Lean and Mean Holdingford 48-18. Mitch Hoffman, Austin Weidner, Joey Curtis and Josh Otten were all 3-0. They did drop a dual to Granite Ridge Conference foe Becker 38-15.



PEQUOT LAKES/PINE RIVER/BACKUS ROAD CREW

The Road Crew opened their season with a very impressive performance as they earned second place with 168 points at the Wadena-Deer Creek "Wolverine" Invitational with eleven placing in the top four. Drey Loge and Anthony Philipson both won championships and earning second place were Jace Loge, Triston Rubner, Nathan Adkins and Justin Mackenthun. Spencer Richards earned third place and Trevor Johnson, Kurt Kent, Jared Adkins and Radel Roeder all earned fourth place. They topped Class A rivals Osakis 40-24, Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 50-16, Deer River 67-9 and WHAN 50-18. The Road Crew had a good tournament showing as they earned sixth place with 119 points at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with six place winners. Triston Rubner and Drey Loge both won championships and Anthony Philipson earned fourth place. Brandon Mager, Nick Gravdahl and Justi Mackenthun all took sixth place. The Road Crew earned fifth place with 147 points at the Cass Lake "Big Bear" Tournament. Anthony Phillipson and Drey Loge both won championships, Jared Adkins earned third place and Jace Loge earned fourth place.



ANNANDALE/MAPLE LAKE LIGHTNING

The Lightning had good showing to open their portion of the 2012 wrestling season as they went 3-1 at the Monticello "Magic" Invitational. They topped North Branch 45-27, New Ulm 68-3 and Nashwauk-Keewatin 66-13, before dropping the championship to AAA Lean and Mean Little Falls 38-36. Tanner Vassar, Hunter Hicks, Cullen Gallagher, Brady Kalla, Teddy Erickson and Jordan Hanon all were 4-0 at the duals. They turned a very good tournament performance to top the field of teams at the Maple Grove "Crimson" Invitational with 203.5 points. They had eleven place winners including one championship by Jordan Hanan and Tom Condon, Spencer Ogden and Cullen Gallagher all earned second place. Joe Mosley and Isaac Hendrickson both earned third place and Brady Kalla, Tanner Vassar and Bennett Erickson all earned fourth place and Hunter Hicks and Cruz Johnson both took fifth place. The Lightning topped a pair of Wright County Conference rivals Waconia 49-21 and Mound-Westonka 48-16.



CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS

The Wildcats started their 2012 season with three big wins in their quadrangular; they defeated two 7AA rivals Hibbing 38-37 and Nashwauk-Keetwatin 44-34 and AAA foe Park Center 54-21. Aaron Sistrunk, Joe Virga, Kyle Schoenecker, Mark Sontag, Dylan Connel and Quade Zupko were all 3-0. They dropped two duals to AAA Blaine 35-34 and Section 7AA rival Mora 42-32 in their Wildcat dual meet invitational. They did defeat rival Hibbing 45-33. Kyle Schoenecker, Joe Virgo, Dylan Connell, Mark Sontag and Quade Zupko were all 3-0. The Wildcast had a good showing at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 107 points to earned seventh place. Dylan Connell earned second place and Kyle Schoenecker, Quade Zupko and Jonah Westbury all earned third place. Mark Sontag earned fourth place, Aaro Sistrunk earned fifth place and Joe Virga took seventh place. They topped Class A Mille Lacs 70-6 and Pine City/Hinckley 56-21. The Wildcats earned second place at their "Wildcat" Invitational with 207 points and ten place winners. Kyle Schoenecker, Dylan Connell, Quade Zupko, Mark Sontag, Joe Virga and Jonah Westbury all won championships. Mike Simpson and Eric Brown both earned second place and Carson Velaski earned fourth place and Sean Hoyt took fifth place.



MONTICELLO MAGIC

The Magic had a good showing to start their 2012-2013 wrestling campaign with three big dual meet wins at the their invitational. They topped Section 7AA foe Nashwauk-Keetwatin 51-27, AAA New Ulm 63-16 and AAA Bloomington Kennedy 52-13. They dropped the championship dual to AAA Lean and Mean Little Falls 39-37. Logan Stiller, Zach Beaumaster, Jake Berthiaume and Seth Gardner were all 4-0 and Brent Riddle was 3-1 and Josh Bourgeois was 3-0. The Magic had a great performance as they topped the field of teams at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational with 186.5 points. They had eleven place in the top five including Tevin Zavadil, Logan Stiller and Zach Beaumaster winning championships. Jack Bourgeois, Jake Berthiaume, Carter Barnes and Seth Gardner all earned second place. Cooper Hanson and Jeremiah Yeats earned third place and Brent Riddle took fourth place. The Magic split a pair of duals with AAA foes; they topped Farmington 36-33 and they dropped a close one to Eastview 37-29.



FERGUS FALLS OTTERS

The Otters opened their 2012-2013 wrestling campaign with a good showing at the Wahpeton "Dan Unruh Memorial" Invitational They earned fifth place with 129 points and they had six place winners; including one championship Abbott Aho he won the 120 weight class. Tyler Giza earned third place and Ben Schindler, Dane Ringquist, Gus Makovsky and Abram Aho all earned fourth place. The Otters split with a pair of Central Lakes Conference duals as they topped Sauk Rapids 40-13 and the lost a very close one to St. Cloud Apollo 37-36. They had a great tournament performance as they scored 206.5 points to claim the championship of this twelve team field of teams at the West Central Area "Grant County" Tourney. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five including five championships by Dane Ringquist, Walker Heinen, Abram Aho, Tyler Giza and Abbot Aho. Abbot Aho was voted by the coaches as the Outstanding Wrestler for his performance. Special Congratulations to Tyler Giza on his 100th Career Win. The Otters earned tenth place at the Big Bear tournament with 110 points and five place winners. Abbot Aho and Tyler Giza both won championships, Dane Ringquist and Gus Makovsky both earned sixth place and Abram Aho took seventh place.



GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE PANTHERS

The Panthers started their season with a great tournament performance; they earned fourth place at their Glencoe-Silver Lake "Don Hall" Invitational with 143 points. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five including a pair of championships by Mitchael Donnay and Mitchell Hartwig. Brandon Richter, Nick Brelie and Dalton Clouse all earned third place, Nate Tesch, John Williams and Jacob Jewett all earned fourth place. Taking fifth place was Klye Potzin and Ray Eberhard. The Panthers had an outstanding showing as the earned second place at the Andover "Husky" Invitational with 188.5 points and eight placers. Seven of those wrestlers advanced to the finals with Jacob Jewett, Nate Tesch, Michael Haratwig and Dalton Clouse all winning championships and Michael Donnay, Brandon Richter and Nick Brelje all earning second place. Earning third place on the day was Aaron Donnay. The Panthers topped a pair of Wright County rivals as they topped Dassel Cokato 42-30 and Litchfield 53-14. The Panthers earned second place at the Richfield "Charley Turner" Duals with wins over Roseville Area 66-10 and AAA Eastview 50-27 before dropping the championship to ranked AAA foe Lakeville North 47-24.

MAT RATS CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOP CLASS AAA TEAMS



SAINT MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE KNIGHTS

The Knights opened their 2012 portion of their season with a very strong showing as they topped the field of ten teams at their invitational with 265.5 points; with all fourteen placing in the top five. Tommy Thorn, Mark Voss, Mike Kessler, Jake Briggs, Mitch Eull, Ricky Briggs, Mitchell McKee and Jordan Joseph all won championships. Lincoln Mallinger, Cole Sladek and Tanner Mills earned second place, Colton Schoen earned fourth place and Zach Dehmer took fifth place. They topped No. 1AA ranked and 14th Nationally Simley 41-21. The Knights topped three ranked foes to win the Coon Rapids "Cardinals" Duals with wins over No. 10A ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa, No. 3AAA ranked Cambrige-Isanti 42-15 and No. 10AAA ranked White Bear Lake 59-3. They had ten wrestlers that won all their matches including, MIke Kessler, Ricky Briggs, Cole Sladek, Mark Voss, Tommy Thorn, Colton Shoen, Aaron Dick, Tanner Mills, Mitchell McKee and Jordan Joseph. The Knights had an awesome tourney performance as they topped the field of teams at the Rochester "Minnesota Christmas" Invitational with 256.5 points. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five in this field of thirty-six teams; with Tommy Thorn and Cole Sladek winning championships and Michael Kessler earned second place. Mitchell McKee, Aaron Dick and Ricky Briggs all earned third place, Mark Voss and Jordan Joseph both earned fourth place. Tanner Mills and Lincoln Mallinger both earned fifth place as they topped Apple Valley by nine points.



CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BLUE JACKETS

The Blue Jackets topped three foes at the White Bear Lake quadrangular to open their dual meet portion of their 2012-2013 season. They beat No. 10AAA ranked White Bear Lake 35-26, AA Mahtomedi 60-24 and AA Virginia 84-0. They topped the field of teams at the Chisago Lakes "Wildcat" Duals with wins over Section 7 rival Blaine 55-16, Lean and Mean Kenyon-Wanamingo 36-28 and over AA Lean and Mean Mora 69-12. Travis Swanson, Dakota Johnson and Nate Nassif were all 3-0 at the duals. The Blue Jackets earned second place at the Coon Rapids "Cardinals" Duals with wins over AAA Lean and Mean Lakeville North 53-14 and over AAA Moundsview 60-15 before dropping to championship to No. AAA ranked and Section 7AAA rival Saint Michael-Albertville 42-15. Travis Holt and Ty Torgerson were both 3-0 at the Cardinal duals. They had a great tourney performance as they scored 161 points with five wrestlers placing to earn Fifth place at the Rochester "Minnesota Christmas" Tournament. Travis Holt earned second place, Travis Swenson and Ty Torgerson both earned sixth place, Dakota Johnson earned seventh place and Cody Skog took eight place.



LITTLE FALLS FLYERS

The Flyers had a very impressive performance to open their dual meet portion of their season as the earned the championship at the Monticello "Magic" Duals with wins over AA North Branch 50-21, No. 9AA ranked Monticello 39-37, AAA Bloomington Kennedy 56-14 and to AA Lean and Mean Annandale-Maple Lake 38-36. Conner Swanson was 4-0, Trysten Ross, Conner Scherping, A. J. Jenks, Dan Mushel, Derek McMahan and Josh Beash were all 3-1 at the Magic duals. They had a strong showing as they earned fifth place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 133.5 points and nine place winners. Connor Swanson won their lone championship and Connor Scherping and Trysten Ross both earned second place. Logan Kapphahn earned third place, Jordan Petrone earned fifth place, Dan Mushel earned sixth place and Alex Lange, Derek McMahan and David Copa all took seventh place. They dropped a Granite Ridge Conference dual to No. 3AA ranked Foley 37-31.





WILLMAR CARDINALS

The Cardinals had a good showing as they started their 2012 portion of their wrestling season. They earned fourth place with 117 points at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa "Jaguar" Invitational, despite missing several of their wrestlers. They had nine place in the top four including two championships by Cass Herzog and Austin Miley. Special note; Austin Miley was voted by the Head coaches as the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament. Travis Deegan and Colten Carlson both earned second place, Vaughn Johnson earned third place and Kory Welgraven, Darius O'Neill, Clay Calrson and Logan Walkow all earned fourth place. They had a very good showing as they earned second place with 211.5 points at their "Cardinal Classic" Invitational with twelve placing in the top five. Cass Herzog won his second tournament of the season, along with Travis Deegan, Austin Miley and Juan Resendez all winning championships. Colten Carlson earned second place and Nate Mittag, Zach Lueders, Jacob Bollig and Vaughn Johnson all earned third place. Jalen Cabrera earned fourth and Kory Welgraven and Eli Gunderson both took fifth place. Three weekends in a row didn't phase the Cardinals as their earned second place at the thirty-five team field of the Cass Lake "Big Bear" Invitational with 164.5 points. Cass Herzog won their only championship and his third tourney championship of the season. Zach Leuders and Colton Carlson both earned second place and Nate Mittag and Travis Deegan both earned fourth place and Austin Miley took sixth place.



BRAINERD WARRIORS

The Warriors had a great start to their 2012-2013 season with their championship at the Blue Earth Area "Dick Maher" Invitational. They earned 186 points and had eleven place in the top five including one championship by Sam Adams. Bryton Mutz, Luke Boran, Jace Engelmann and Levi Rubin all earned second place and Dan Babineau, James Weiss and Jeff Flickinger all earned third place. Andy Schlosser and Tommy Schlosser both earned fourth place and Jake Zellinske took fifth place. The Warriors topped Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA rival Alexandria 45-30. They earned eighth place with 106.5 points at their invitational the "Paul Bunyan". They had seven place winners; including one championship by Bryton Mutz and Casey Beiver earned second place. Luke Boran earned third place, Dan Babineau and Jace Engelmann both earned fifth place, Sam Adams took sixth place and Andy Schlosser took seventh place. The Warriors topped Central Lakes Conference rival St. Cloud Apollo 59-20. The Warriors earned sixth place at the Frazee "Les Kertscher" Duals; they dropped they quarterfinal dual to No. 3AA ranked Foley in a thriller 37-30, they topped No. 12AA ranked Perham 41-30 in the consolations semifinals. In the fifth place dual they dropped a very close dual to Lisbon, ND the No. 1B ranked team 36-33. Levi Rubin, Andy Schlosser and Bryton Mutz all were 3--0.





MOORHEAD SPUDS

The Spuds had a great showing to start their 2012-2013 season with a tournament championship at the Jamestown "Knights of Columbus" Invitational with 148 points. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five with Chase Morlock, Joe Carpenter and A. J. Wheeler all winning championships. Kenny Mark earned second place, Sam Grove, Joseph Grove, Jacob Rositas, Ben Cavalier and Tommy Wychor all earned third place and Ethan Tallakson earned fourth place. The Spuds had a very good showing at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational with 140 points to earned fourth place in this fifteen team field of teams. Chase Morlock won their only championship and Kenny Mark, Joe Carpenter and A. J. Wheeler all earned second place and Jacob Rositas earned third place. Tommy Wycher earned fourth place, Sam Grove earned sixth place and Ethan Tallockson took seventh place.



BEMIDJI LUMBERJACKS

The Lumberjacks had a very good start to their season with a big win over rival Deer River. They topped the field of teams at the Fosston "Alfred Olson Memorial" Invitational with 187.5 points. With ten wrestlers placing in the fop three including championships by Brian Maas, Logan Crosby, Kade Johnson and Tyler O'Beirne. Dylan Sauceda, Robert Theuer and Brody Wilender both earned second place and Gannon Strain, Craig Maas and Josh Dreyer all earned third place. They had a very impressive tournament performance with 142 points to claim third place at the Brainerd "Paul Bunyan" Invitational. This is a fifteen team event and they came away with seven place winners including two championships by Brian Maas and Kade Johnson. Earning second place was Alex Johnson and Craig Maas, Logan Crosby earned fourth place, Dylan Sauceda earned fifth place and Robert Treuer took seventh place. The Lumberjacks continued their very good season with a very solid tourney performance to claim fourth place with 148 points at the Cass Lake "Big Bear" Tournament. Alex Johnson and Brian Maas both earned second place, Craig Maas earned fourth place and Logan Crosby and Drew Peterson both took sixth place. They topped Iron Range Rival Grand Rapids 36-27 for their second dual meet win of the season.



SARTELL SABRES

The Sabres had a great start to their 2012-2013 wrestling season with their performance as they earned 179 points to claim third place at the Melrose "Early Bird" Invitational. They had ten wrestlers place in the top five with Daniel Vitale and Brady Goebel both winning championships and Drew Bienusa, Rylee Molitor and Creedance McDermond all earned second place. Jake Fernholtz and Antone Then both earned third place along with Theo Deaull, Zach Peterson and Zach Motschke all taking fifth place. They had another very solid performance with 149 points to claim fourth place at the Big Lake "Hornets" Invitational. Dan Vitale won a championship and Drew Bienusa and Zach Pedereson both earned second place. Rylee Moliter and Zach Motschke both earned third place, Brady Goebel, Jon Pelach, Thoe Deuel and Sam Krauel all earned fourth place and Garrett Counter took fifth place. The Sabres had a pair of big dual meet wins over Central Lakes Conference rivals Fergus Falls 38-27 and Rocori 54-13. The Sabres were a little short handed and yet earned 85.5 points to claim eleventh place at the thirty-two field team event at the Redwood Valley "River Riot" Invitational. Dan Vitale earned second place, Brady Goeble earned third place, Zach Motschke earned fifth place and Rylee Molitor took sixth place.



SAINT CLOUD APOLLO EAGLES

The Eagles started their season with a strong showing with 121 points to earned second place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights Classic" Invitational. Mitch Bengtson and Grant Nehring both won championships, Peter Nelson earned second place, Dylan Tilbury and Bryce Kirchner both earned third place, Matt Braun earned fourth place and Dylan Mehr took fifth place. They topped Central Lakes Conference rival Sauk Rapids 40-38 and dropped a pair of duals to Central Lakes Conference rivals Fergus Falls 37-36 and to Brainerd 59-20. The Eagles earned sixth place at the Big Lake "Hornet" Invitational with 122 points. Peter Nelson, Mitch Bengtson and Grant Nehring all won championships. Matt Braun earned second place, Brandon Kardus earned fourth place, Drew VanVleet, Kevin Cao and Bryce Kirchner all took fifth place. The Eagles dropped a pair of non-conference duals to No. 7A ranked Pierz 45-27 and to No. 6AA ranked Milaca 51-20.



ALEXANDRIA CARDINALS

The Cardinals had a very good tournament performance to start their 2012 portion of their wrestling season with 164.5 points to earned fifth place at the Litchfield "Dragons" Invitational. Trent Piepenburg won their only championship, Tony Hubbard and Blake Olhausen both earned second place, Ben Borgart earned third place and Tristan Johnson and Andrew Moske both took fifth place. The Cardinals had an impressive tournament showing with 152.5 points to claim third place at the West Central Area "Grant County" Invitational. This was a twelve team field of teams with eight wrestlers placing in the top five. Tony Hubbard and Justin Cumberbatch both won championships and Ben Bogart earned second place. Trent Piepenburg, Dylan Kruse and Blake Olhaussen all earned third place, Shaun Nelson earned fourth place and Mike Schluter took fifth place. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Brainerd 45-30. The Cardinals earned seventh place in this thirty two team field of teams with 112.5 points at the Redwood Valley "River Riot" Invitational. Tony Hubbard won his second tournament of the season and Justin Cumberbatch earned second place, Ben Bogart earned fourth place, Trent Piepenberg earned fifth place and Blake Olhaussen took sixth place.



ELK RIVER ELKS

The Elks had a good start to their wrestling season with 101 points to earned fourth place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights Classic" Tournament. They had nine place winners including, Garrett Coldon, Ben Gibas, Kyle Zimmer, Jacob Frown, Aaron Hannan and Mills Young. Andrew Perry earned fourth place and Trevor Brink and Cole Moening both took fifth place. The Elks went 1-2 at the Milaca duals as they topped class A Aitkin 48-27 and they dropped duals to No. 7AA ranked Milaca 44-30 and Class A Lean and Mean Holdingford 39-25. Eric Coldon, Cole Moening and Alex Schmitz were all 3-0 at the Milaca duals. They topped AAA foe Robbinsdale Armstrong 52-25, lost to Centennial 36-25 and Andover 39-40.



BUFFALO BISON

The Bison started their season with a good tournament performance where they earned 88 points to take sixth place at the Osseo "Ken Droegemueller" Invitational. Adam Treptau won their only championshhip, Cedric Jimenez earned second place, Hunter Durand and Ian Scherber both took third place. Joe O'Flanigan and Jonathan Wirkkala both earned fifth place. They dropped a dual to Granite Ridge Conference rival Princeton 51-21. The Bison earned fifth place at the Chanhassen "Holiday" Tounament with 103 points. Adam Treptau won his second tournament of the season, Cedric Jimenez and Jonathon Wirkkalla both earned second place. Hunter Durand and Ian Scherber both earned third place and Lance Berg and Joe O'Flannigan both took fifth place. They dropped three duals to section rivals Mound-Westonka 42-26, Minnetonka 39-45 and Chanhassen 50-6.



SAUK RAPIDS STORM

The Storm started their 2012-2013 wrestling season with a sixth place and 89 points at the Litchfield "Dragons Classic" Tournament. Taylor Rau and Austin Walz both won championships and Trent Klejesk earned third place. Charlie Rudy earned fourth place and Tony Bemboom took fifth place. They had a very good tournament performance with 131 points to earn fourth place at the Maple Grove Invitational. Taylor Rau won his second tournament of the season, Chris Keske and Charlie Rudy both earned second place, Austin Walz earned third place and Tony Bemboom and Korey Keske both earned fourth place. The Storm dropped a pair of Central Conference duals to Fergus Falls 40-28 and to Saint Cloud Apollo 40-38. They also dropped to non-conference dual to Anoka 53-20.



ROCORI SPARTANS

The Spartans had a good tourney performance to start off their season with 100 points to earn sixth place at the Melrose "Early Bird" Invitational. Nick Warne and Tyler Hoffman both won championships, Kolten Resseman earned second place, Cory Buerman earned third place and Seth Klein earned fourth place. They took ninth place at the Shakopee "Sabres" invitaional with 42 points. Tyler Hoffman and Adam Kunz both earned fourth place and Shane Childers took fifth place. They dropped a Central Lakes Conference dual to Sartell 54-13.



ST. CLOUD TECH TIGERS

The Tigers took eighth place at the Saint Michael-Albertville "Knights" Invitational with 45 points. Jared Nieland earned second place, Cole Schreder and Austin Brenner both earned fourth place and Noah Voigt took fifth place. They had 81 points at the Willmar "Cardinal Classic" Initational, Noah Voight and Luke Dorn both earned second place, Jerrad Neiland earned third place and Patrick Neihaus earned fourth place. The Tigers dropped duals to AAA foes Wayzata 51-28 and to Stillwater 41-19.



ROGERS ROYALS

The Royals earned seventh place with 100 points at the Fridley "Tigers" Invitational. Phillip Anderson won their only championship, Ryan Lien earned second place, Kyler Swanson earned third place, Tyler Eicher earned fourth place and Jordan Lemcke and Jake Owens both took fifth place. They scored 114 points to earned sixth place at the Maple Grove Invitational. Ryan Lien earned second place and Phillip Anderson earned third place. Kyler Swanson and Jordan Lemcke both earned fourth place and Tyler Eicher, Jake Ownes, Peter Oakland and Art Martinez all took fifth place. The Royals took sixth place with 84 points at the Chisago Lakes "Wildcat" Invitational. Ryan Lien and Phillip Anderson both earned second place, Kyler Swanson earned third place, Cruz Martinez earned fourth place and Tyler Eicher took fifth place. They dropped a pair of duals to Maple Grove 42-32 and Osseo 51-22.
